Week Four

Not much has happened since last time I posted. Lucy and I are still waiting to hear from our mentor Jessica. While we wait, there is not much work to be done other than keep planning.
This week in class our entire class were fortunate enough to have met and talked to one of the workers for the popular company "Soul Pancake". Talking to her was a really cool experience because she was once in the same boat as us, she had once set a goal and she reached it just like I am hoping to do. She answered very helpful questions and gave really good advice. Talking to her really made me more excited about this project and from talking to her, she made me realize how possible it is to reach my goal.

Week Three

Not much has happened since last week. Lucy and I still have to sort out all the details which we will complete this week. We are writing out our entire plan for our program.. things like what is is, when it is, and where it will take place. With this information, we will send it to the cancer center social worker, and our mentor, Jessica, and hopefully that will be the start of making our idea come to life. These couple weeks are going to mainly revolve around thinking and planning. Once we get all this figured out, we will be ready to start!

2nd Blog Post

Yesterday, Lucy and I met with the Cancer Center social worker, and our mentor, Jessica. We proposed our idea, and she loved it! Our next step is to figure out all the details involving: the type of patients we are adressing, also when we will start the program, and how often we will meet with the patients. Slowly but surely, we are making progress!

My First Blog Post!

Hi my name is Caroline and this is my very first blog post of my twenty time project. For my project I am working with Lucy Loch,  starting a teen-to-teen program at the Van Elslander cancer center in the hopes of  making a successful program where young cancer patients can form companionships with people like Lucy and I. When I found out about 20 time I was so excited because this is something I've always wanted to do. I am so passionate about helping people who are less fortunate than others, and we chose to do a teen program so we can connect with the patients being that they are close in age. My goal for this is to form companionships with the patients giving them the feeling of a normal life and just make with time with cancer a optimistic thing. I want to give them the opportunity to look at life and love it rather than being afraid of it. Hopefully I will be able to impact their lives, the same time they will be impacting mine.
